East Asia Minerals Corporation Receives Signed Approval for Extensions on its Mining Licences in Indonesia

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 8, 2013) - East Asia Minerals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:EAS) ("East Asia Minerals" or "the Company") today announced that it has obtained signed agreements granting extensions to its mining business licences at its Miwah project in Indonesia. The extensions were granted by the Bupati of Pidie Regency, the local Indonesian government official with jurisdiction over mining business licences. The licences have been renewed for an additional two years until November 30, 2014. This allows East Asia Minerals continued access to the properties to explore for gold and its associated minerals.

"We are pleased to have the previously announced verbal agreements signed," stated Edward Rochette, Chairman and CEO. "This signed extension was the result of a sustained effort by the Company over the past year. The tenure issues at Miwah are now behind us. We can immediately re-start our exploration program for the project. Our team can move forward to seek removal of the surface use restrictions imposed by the Ministry of Forestry."

Miwah is an epithermal gold target located on the northern tip of Sumatra Island in the province of Aceh in Indonesia. The Company filed an NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate on May 2011 and has completed preliminary metallurgical studies.
