Team FXPRIMUS Aylezo competed in the second endurance race this year at the Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race this past weekend. The 12 hour race was a subdued event this year with only 30 cars taking part in various classes. Team FXPRIMUS Aylezo competed in the GT4 class with the team's new Lotus Evora GT4.
The new car performed flawlessly and allowed the team of three drivers to take the challenge to the defending champions who were racing an Aston Martin. Though lapping about a second slower than the Aston Martin, traffic and four drive through penalties meant that the team had to make do with second place.
With experience from competing in the MMER since 2009, Team FXPRIMUS Aylezo possesses the crucial experience that is important to take home a good result. It is also the second time the team has competed in an endurance race this year with the first being the inaugural Gulf 12 Hours race in Abu Dhabi back in January where the team also took a well-deserved second place finish.
Race driver, Zen Low aid, "We are definitely satisfied with second place, but we also see it as a missed opportunity. We had the car, we had the pace, we have the experience, and we have a great team, so to come home in second place is not something we were expecting, but that's racing. We learn, we mature, we move on and work to the next race."
However, endurance races are never a straight forward race and the team also suffered from its share of hiccups and glitches. Speaking about the race in general, Zen added, "We had to deal with some slower traffic as we were among the fastest cars on the circuit, there was also an incident with a slower car that resulted in us having to serve a drive through penalty and a loose wheel causes additional pit stop, but it was a great race nonetheless. The car wasn't set up to its maximum, but it still managed to hold together and give us some decent lap times. We were probably about two seconds slower than what the car can do, but an endurance race is not about lap times, it's about consistency and keeping errors down to a minimum. We did that and brought home a fantastic result for the team and for FXPRIMUS."
Terry Thompson, President of FXPRIMUS was again pleased with the result. Speaking about the race result, Terry said, "Our venture into the world of motorsport has paid off brilliantly. We have a great partner in Team Aylezo, and the Lotus cars have lived up to their reputation of being great race cars. The result at this year's MMER has shown what we are capable of. The result are underlines our commitment as a company at choosing the very best ventures to invest into, our customers can rest easy knowing that we are making some of the best decisions both as a company, and for our customers as well.
Team FXPRIMUS Aylezo is now preparing to contest in the next round of the Malaysian Super Series which will take place this September at the Sepang International Circuit.
