EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Sept. 12, 2012) - Davis LLP, a full-service national law firm, proudly supports Got Ginch 2012. Lawyers and staff from the firm's Edmonton office participated in the annual Cross-Canada Underwear Drive for the homeless. The firm donated close to $8,000 to the initiative and lent a helping hand in cities across the country.
"When I heard about Got Ginch, I was surprised that an organization exists to deal with such a specialized need," says Colin Lipsett, a partner in the firm's Corporate/Commercial and Mergers & Acquisitions practice group. "It was fantastic to have the opportunity to help with the delivery of boxes upon boxes of underwear to The Mustard Seed, where they are greatly needed, and to be a part of the Canada-wide initiative."
Lipsett and Gavin Millan, Student-At-Law at Davis LLP, joined forces with founder Brent King and his co-pilot Robb Price at The Mustard Seed in Edmonton in distributing clean underwear to the homeless.
Got Ginch started four years ago when King approached his local homeless shelter for a list of urgently needed items. On the top of most lists was underwear. "The experts told me that the first step in rebuilding a life is to rebuild self respect and basic dignity. I can't think of many things more basic and dignifying than a pair of clean underwear," says King.
At Davis LLP, we are responsive and committed to our communities across the country. Our lawyers and staff connect with the community through volunteer activities such as Got Ginch. Professionals from each of the firm's offices located in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montréal also participated in this worthwhile endeavour when the Got Ginch RV stopped in these cities.
