CUPERTINO, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 17, 2012) - CRC Health Group's Clinical Advisory Board, a group of 12 of the behavioral healthcare industry's top minds, recently reconvened to continue driving the company's clinical excellence initiatives forward. CRC is the nation's largest provider of behavioral health and addiction treatment services. CRC's Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Phil Herschman, led the two-day meeting that took place at the company's Sierra Tucson property in Tucson, Ariz.
"We are very fortunate to have this great group of professionals supporting our drive for clinical excellence," said Dr. Herschman. "These meetings always produce exciting ideas that we as a company can use to advance our clinical initiatives."
On the docket at this meeting were discussions on the CRC Treatment Model, an update on the company's Provita program (a comprehensive treatment program for opiate addicts that uses the once-a-month injectable, Vivitrol), the continuing roll-out of CAB Member Dr. David Powell's Clinical Supervision System, outcomes measurement systems, and the therapeutic alliance system that is being piloted at six CRC sites.
The Board also heard presentations from two distinct CRC programs: New Life Lodge, the residential addiction treatment facility located in Burns, Tennessee that recently incorporated faith-based programming, and Copper Canyon Academy, the private therapeutic boarding school for teen girls located in Rimrock, Arizona. The group was then taken for a tour of Sierra Tucson, and discussed the program's superior level of treatment, particularly their high psychiatrist-to-patient ratio and their expertise in treating very clinically complex patients.
"After interacting for two days with our Clinical Advisory Board, I'm convinced we are out in front," said Andy Eckert, CEO of CRC. "We discussed how CRC is pushing our clinical practices forward, how we are measuring customer satisfaction every month, and how we are partnering with some of the biggest insurance companies and universities in groundbreaking research. You couldn't help but feel the energy in the room and feel excited for all that's happening at CRC, due in large part to this incredible Board."
A sample of the work coming out of the Clinical Advisory Board includes:
- Dr. Norm Hoffman, a renowned clinical psychologist and researcher, developed "NORMS" for outcomes monitoring, an instrument that will be used in the CRC Treatment Model.
- Dr. CC Nuckols, a widely published author and advisor, and Jerry Shulman, MA, MAC, FACATA and behavioral health consultant, represent CRC as speakers at industry conferences.
- Dr. Ian Shaffer, consultant, Certified Physician Executive and Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, is utilizing his experience as an executive in the managed care world to help develop partnership messaging to managed care organizations on behalf of CRC.
- Dr. David Powell's aforementioned Clinical Supervision System that is being rolled out to CRC facilities.
The CRC Clinical Advisory Board was announced last August with the purpose of providing expert guidance as the company develops a cutting-edge treatment delivery system that encompasses the latest innovations and research (the CRC Treatment Model). Each Clinical Advisory Board member has experience in behavioral health and/or addiction treatment or research; their expertise and guidance helps drive CRC Health Group's vision of becoming the recognized industry leader for clinical excellence.
