The Ottawa Senators announced today the rosters for Team Red (Phillips) and Team Black (Alfredsson) for this year's Sens Skills competition, presented by Metro, which returns to Scotiabank Place on Wednesday, Dec. 28. The event, being held in conjunction with the Ottawa Citizen, Home Hardware, Milk, MBNA, Bell, Team 1200 radio and Rogers Television, will begin at 1 p.m., with arena doors opening at noon.
Team Red: Chris Phillips (captain), Craig Anderson, Bobby Butler, Matt Carkner, Nick Foligno, Sergei Gonchar, Colin Greening, Filip Kuba, Chris Neil, Kyle Turris, and Jesse Winchester.
Team Black: Daniel Alfredsson (captain), Alex Auld, Erik Condra, Jared Cowen, Kaspars Daugavins, Erik Karlsson, Zenon Konopka, Brian Lee, Milan Michalek, Peter Regin, Zack Smith and Jason Spezza.
Participating alongside the Senators will be eight minor hockey skaters and two goaltenders from the National Capital Region
Sens Skills sees the players demonstrating their hockey skills in the following categories:
- Ottawa Citizen puck control relay - observe players illustrating versatility in stickhandling
- Recharge with Milk fastest skater - see players showcasing their speed on skates
- Home Hardware hardest shot - witness the power of an NHL slap shot
- Bell Accuracy shooting - find out who shoots with the most precision
- MBNA Skills challenge - a team event featuring stickhandling, one-timers, passing and a 3-on-1 to stop the clock
- Metro Elimination Shootout - who has the moves to be crowned king of the shootout?
The Senators will participate in a 10-minute warmup, from 12:40 to 12:50 p.m., followed by the Sens Skills competition.
Fans will be welcomed to Scotiabank Place with free parking and a festive atmosphere. Sens Skills also provides fans with an opportunity to see the new Bell HD Screen in person following its initial unveiling on Dec. 27.
On behalf of Metro, the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association, the Senators will donate this year's net proceeds to the Sens Foundation and the NHLPA's Goals & Dreams Fund.
Over the past five years, more than 70,000 fans have attended Sens Skills presented by Metro, with the Senators and NHLPA donating more than $500,000 to local charities on behalf of their partners.
All 100-, 200- and 300-level tickets for Sens Skills presented by Metro are $14.50, $11.50 and $7.50 respectively (advance sales only).
