Clinical Ink Wins 2012 Data Driven Innovation Award From The Society of Clinical Data Management

Award Recognizes Dramatic Business Results Achieved in Novartis' First FDA-Approved eSource Study

WINSTON-SALEM, NC--(Marketwire - Sep 24, 2012) - The Society of Clinical Data Management today recognized Clinical Ink's pioneering eSource solution, SureSource™, as the winner of the 2012 Data Driven Innovation Award. As the largest professional organization devoted to clinical data management, SCDM annually recognizes the technology that has the greatest potential to advance the profession.

Clinical Ink was selected by a panel of experienced industry experts from among a competitive field of 16 entrants and 5 finalists including Quintiles, Medidata, Omnicomm Systems, and PHT. The award also recognizes CMED Technology's Timaeus product as the data integration platform which permitted Novartis to access clinical study data within an hour of the patient visit.

"This award recognizes the real-world benefits of adopting an eSource approach to clinical trials," commented Ed Seguine, CEO of Clinical Ink. "Historically, this industry changes slowly, but the benefits of the Clinical Ink approach to eSource are immediately apparent, easily measured, and achievable with minimal disruption to back-end data management practices. We are gratified that the expert panel recognized the transformative impact of the SureSource platform."

The award-winning project involved over 70 site users at a dedicated phase 1 facility in the US where subject data was captured electronically on Microsoft tablet-PCs in real-time. Clinical Ink and CMED integrated their systems and launched the study within 9 weeks. The integrated approach permitted Novartis to leverage existing data standards to minimize disruption and immediately realize dramatic savings in monitoring time/effort and data cleaning activities in their very first FDA-approved eSource study. Significantly, 75% of site users said the technology was as "easy as paper" and would enjoy working on another eSource project.

The SCDM award is the third major recognition for Clinical Ink in the last six months having previously been recognized by Gartner Research as a 2012 "Cool Vendor" and Microsoft with the 2012 Life Science Innovation Award.
