OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 19, 2013) - The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), today announced the appointment of Claude Bédard as a member of the Council.

Dr. Bédard currently serves as President of Euclid Admixture Canada Inc. and Vice-President of International Accounts for The Euclid Chemical Company of Cleveland, Ohio. He is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec and has served on the board of directors for the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI). In 1988 and 1992, he was the President of ACI Quebec and Eastern Ontario Chapter. Dr. Bédard has served on several boards, including the RMC Research and Education Foundation Advisory Council, the National Research Council of Canada's Institute for Research in Construction Advisory Board, and the Canadian Ready Mixed Concrete Association. Mr. Bédard was past Chair and remains an active member of the CSA Technical Committee on Concrete Materials and Methods of Construction.
Dr. Bédard holds a Bachelor of Engineering (1981), Masters of Applied Science (1983) and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (2005) from the Université de Sherbrooke.
