TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 9, 2012) - Centerra Gold Inc. (TSX:CG) announced today that independent environmental experts with U.S.-based Prizma LLC analyzed the June 2012 Parliamentary Commission Report ("Report") about the Kumtor Mine, located in the Kyrgyz Republic. Prizma's findings focused on seven key environmental issues discussed in the Report and confirm that the Report's allegations are unfounded and that it ignores results of numerous inspections and independent audits, published data and published government reports.
Centerra's President and CEO, Ian Atkinson, commented: "As I have stated previously, Centerra believes that the parliamentary report's findings are without merit. Kumtor has operated in accordance with Kyrgyz and international standards and this has been proven over the years in systematic audits by Kyrgyz and international experts."
