Cemaphore Extends MailShadow Disaster Recovery Solution for Microsoft Exchange to BlackBerry Platform
Cemaphore CEO Tyrone Pike to Speak on Disaster Recovery for Mobile Email and Business Continuity, Ferris Webinar October 3rd
SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - October 1, 2007) - Cemaphore Systems, Inc., a leading innovator
in email disaster recovery, announces the interoperability of its flagship
product, MailShadow®, with BlackBerry® Enterprise Server from Research
In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM) (TSX: RIM) to help to ensure email
availability for BlackBerry® smartphone users even if their Microsoft®
Exchange server has an outage.
MailShadow protects Microsoft Exchange mailboxes by replicating mailbox
transactions to geo-diverse, active Exchange servers for real-time disaster
recovery. In the event that the primary Exchange server goes down or is
undergoing planned maintenance, MailShadow will ensure that mailflow to and
from BlackBerry Enterprise Server is restored within minutes.
Deep integration with Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory allows
MailShadow to replicate mailbox content accurately and completely,
including information stored within Exchange by BlackBerry Enterprise
Server. Because MailShadow's mailbox failover is driven by the user's
record in Active Directory, it allows BlackBerry Enterprise Servers, which
rely on Active Directory for mailbox server information, to immediately
reconnect to the recovery Exchange server and maintain mailflow continuity
to BlackBerry smartphone users. Cemaphore has tested MailShadow and the
BlackBerry platform together and they can be deployed as an end-to-end
solution for mobile email availability.
"Cemaphore's core value proposition -- the ability to protect messaging
services for select mailboxes across multiple servers -- uniquely helps to
maintain email flow to BlackBerry users in the enterprise," states Tyrone
Pike, CEO of Cemaphore Systems. "By interoperating with BlackBerry
Enterprise Server, we can provide our customers with the ability to
maintain mobile email flow to executives and essential staff, no matter
what."
Ferris Research analyst Colin Bush will interview Cemaphore CEO Tyrone Pike
in an upcoming online discussion about the importance of protecting mobile
email. The live, interactive webinar, "Mobile Email Continuity Across the
Enterprise: A Conversation With Cemaphore Systems," is available to the
general public on 10/3/07 8:30 PDT. To register go to

About MailShadow
MailShadow replicates selected mailboxes from multiple Exchange servers to
one or more active DR Exchange servers. Using a service account to acquire
message transactions removes the need to install any software on the
Exchange servers. MailShadow uses transaction replication technology to
move all Exchange content, including calendars and contacts, to the DR
Exchange server, and checks the integrity of all data prior to forwarding
transactions. After failover, Outlook, OWA, ActiveSync, BlackBerry
Enterprise Server, etc. are fully functional, and complete mailbox content
is available.
