Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark Undergoes Major Renovation to Host Better Meetings

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK--(Marketwire - Feb 27, 2013) -    It's not every day that a ten-year-old undergoes a complete makeover and refurbishment -- but the Copenhagen Marriott Hotel is no ordinary ten-year-old. Beginning in the winter of 2011, the entire property underwent a 3.5 million-Euro, top-to-bottom renovation to better serve its guests, including business travelers.

Every aspect of the property has been upgraded over three phases, including guest rooms, executive lounge, and meeting and conference facilities. Carpets, furniture, and more were refurbished with brighter colors and lighter materials to improve the guest experience and make the Marriott home to the most sought-after meeting rooms in Copenhagen. "As Denmark's largest five-star hotel, it is important that we always offer our guests both well maintained and modern surroundings in the spirit of the Marriott," said Karina Bodych, Sales and Marketing Coordinator.

Working three floors at a time, the first phase began November 14, 2011 and included new carpets, curtains, paint, lamps, pillows, chairs and new artwork. The third and final phase was completed in early 2013. The impetus for the renovation is the idea of providing a home-away-from-home for business guests. "The goal of the design is to give our guests the feeling of homely comfort," Bodych continued. "We chose earth tones and shades of blue to reflect the nature, the seasons and the water in the harbor channel just outside the hotel."

Prior to this renovation, the lobby area, bar and restaurant of this luxury hotel in Copenhagen were refurbished in 2010. For this refurbishment, the interior architect is Barbara Meyer Kosfeld, who has designed several hotels throughout Europe. She's the visionary behind the hotel's new event venues and modern accommodations.
