CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Jul 24, 2012) - The Big Ten Conference has chosen Forward Market Media (FMM) as its partner for an innovative ticket reservation system at the Big Ten Network (BTN) website. Through this system, powered by FMM's proprietary software platform, fans can now reserve a "TeamTix," which gives them the right to purchase a ticket priced at face value well in advance of the 2012 Big Ten Football Championship Game.
The Big Ten's ticket reservation system provides unprecedented access and affordability to all fans. Using proprietary software from FMM and leveraging the reach of BTN online, the platform enables the right to purchase, for as little as $10, the right to buy face-value priced tickets to the games that matter most to fans. The new marketplace fosters greater fan access to tickets and removes the uncertainty most fans face when trying to purchase tickets through secondary markets.
Here's how the reservation system works: starting July 28, football fans from any of the Big Ten schools can go to BTN.com/TeamTix, to select their favorite team and purchase a reservation to the game. If their team makes it to the game, the fan is obligated to purchase the ticket at face value. If the team they specify does not qualify, their "TeamTix" expires and the fan forfeits only the reservation fee. "TeamTix" reservations will be limited to eight tickets.
Adding to the excitement, fans can also trade their "TeamTix" in real time in the Big Ten Forward Market, where prices can rise and fall with each team's on-field performance as the season progresses. In addition, this year, special team-specific Twitter hashtags will enable fans to closely follow their team's forward marketplace to buy and sell in real time.
"We're excited to be working with BTN and Forward Market Media to provide another option for fans seeking tickets to the Big Ten Football Championship Game," said Big Ten Deputy Commissioner Brad Traviolia. "We see this innovative ticket reservation system as an added benefit for fans from all Big Ten schools, many of whom had the opportunity to enjoy our inaugural championship game last year in Indianapolis."
"We are very proud to be working with the Big Ten Conference and BTN as football fans around the country get ready for the start of the season," notes Scott McKibben, CEO of Forward Market Media. "Our technology opens up new access for fans who want to follow their teams to big games, and we're pleased to provide the technology platform for the Big Ten to continue to lead in connecting fans with great experiences both online and on the sidelines."
