bcMetals Corporation: Update on Mobilization of Drilling Equipment

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 10, 2006) - bcMetals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:C) announced today that it has commenced mobilization of a drilling rig and support equipment in connection with its previously announced drilling progam. Details of the planned program were announced by the Company in its May 30, 2006 news release, which is intended to increase resources outside the limits of the currently-designed open pit so as to support an expanded operation at the Red Chris Project.

The injunction previously granted to the Company in respect of the blockade on the Ealue Lake Road was honoured and the Company mobilized an excavator and a drill rig on the afternoon of September 9.

In order to mobilize the excavator and drill rig, the Company and its contractors were required to ford a small stream, known as Coyote Creek. Various environmental protection measures were taken by the Company, including the placing of hydro-carbon booms. A small amount of grease and other hydro-carbons (estimated to be less than half of one litre) washed off of the drilling rig while fording Coyote Creek. A portion of this material was observed to have escaped the booms. The Company is undertaking testing to ensure that there has been no impact on the environment. Regulatory authorities have been notified by the Company and the Company will undertake any clean-up work necessary to rectify the situation.
