QUERCUS PUBLISHING PLC
(the "Company")
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING TRADING UPDATE
At the Annual General Meeting of Quercus Publishing Plc held today in London, the Chief Executive, Mark
Smith, gave the following update on the Company's trading performance during the first five months of its
current financial year.
'I am pleased to report that the Company has traded in line with expectations in the first five months of
2012, with overall performance meeting our forecasts. With the contribution from the Larsson franchise
declining as expected, the financial results are projected to have a more traditional seasonality than has
been experienced over the last two years.'
'Digital revenues have continued to accelerate and accounted for 25% of total sales over the five month
period. With more reading devices being sold, upgraded models due for release and new entrants to the
market, we see digital revenues remaining robust over the remainder of the year.'
'Katie Piper's Things Get Better and Peter May's The Lewis Man appeared in the Sunday Times Top Ten
Bestsellers list. Other notable successes in the period were Alison Littlewood's A Cold Season, Elly
Griffiths' A Room Full of Bones, Christie Watson's Tiny Sunbirds Far Away and Kathryn Bonella's Hotel K.
The Company continues to have a debt-free balance sheet with a strong cash position and the Directors
believe the investments we have made in staff, infrastructure and intellectual property will continue to
deliver increasing returns to shareholders in the short, medium and long term.
The Directors note the recent purchase of the PLUS Stock Exchange by ICAP and are pursuing discussions with
the new management in order to complete a thorough analysis of the options available to the Company in
regard to its stock market listing.
At the Annual General Meeting, all resolutions were duly passed.
The Directors of Quercus Publishing Plc are responsible for this announcement.
