HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - Oct 9, 2012) - The AMA Houston Chapter announced today that it has received the highest professional chapters award -- 2011-12 Chapter of the Year. This annual awards program highlights excellence among the organization's 77 chapters across the U.S. and Canada.
"The AMA Houston Chapter has once again demonstrated their commitment to excellence by being honored with this year's Chapter of the Year award," said Dennis Dunlap, CEO of the American Marketing Association. "This is Houston's sixth Chapter of the Year win, which is unprecedented in Chapter Excellence Award history. Their leaders, past and present, are to be commended for their continued path to success and their agility to achieve their goals."
AMA Houston's chief goal in 2011 - 2012 was to "make membership personal," as well as develop initiatives to enhance leadership and programming. Accomplishments include granting a year's membership to five volunteers through a new Membership Grant Program, donating $15,000 in grants to area non-profits through its AMA Houston Gives Back program, and creating new programming initiatives like the first annual MarketingEdge conference and the Chief Marketing Officer panel series.
"As one of the AMA's strongest chapters, our leadership team feels great responsibility, not only to our own members, but to the marketing community as a whole in Houston," commented Houston's 2011-12 Chapter of the Year President, Stacey Eddington. "It is our job to provide excellent programming and networking opportunities for our members and guests to elevate the prestige and credibility of the marketing profession in our area. Winning Chapter of the Year solidifies that AMA Houston is THE connection for marketing professionals across the city, and affords us the opportunity to help enhance member experience in terms of more membership grants and even stronger educational programming."
"With over 40 dedicated board members, and almost 200 volunteers, we have been able to accomplish some incredible things together," commented Robin Tooms, 2012-13 Chapter President for the AMA Houston Chapter. "It is very fulfilling to be a part of a well-established and well-respected marketing organization such as the AMA. I'm thrilled that we have been recognized with this great honor, and I know that our volunteers will continue to drive towards future excellence."
