ALT Software Introduces Fujitsu Carmine OpenGL Driver Kits for Enhanced Graphics Capabilities in Embedded Systems
LONDON--(Marketwire - September 11, 2007) - DSEi -- ALT Software, the leading provider of
advanced 2D/3D graphics software in embedded systems, today announced the
availability of OpenGL Driver Kits for the MB86297 Carmine, Fujitsu
Microelectronics America's (FMA) newest and most advanced Graphics
Processing Unit (GPU). Building on the success of its Fujitsu Coral PA
OpenGL driver libraries, and developed as a part of ALT Software's
continued commitment to embedded device developers, the driver enables
embedded system integrators and OEMs to support the development and
deployment of next generation 2D and 3D graphics applications on embedded
platforms.
ALT Software's compact graphics library for the Carmine GPU enables
advanced display graphics performance through the use of extended OpenGL
1.2 functionality. The driver supports several popular real-time operating
systems including Green Hills INTEGRITY, Wind River VxWorks, QNX Neutrino,
and is endian agnostic, supporting CPUs such as Freescale's PowerPC and
Intel's X86. The GPU itself is particularly well suited to embedded
applications, with a long life-cycle, modest power requirements and
competitive rendering performance in a robust, industrial grade
package. Supporting simultaneous dual stream video capture and up to four
displays per GPU, it offers I/O capabilities that are unrivalled by System
on Chip solutions and other graphics processors.
The driver can be readily adapted to address the needs of customers who
have specific needs. Custom engineered solutions meet a diverse range of
requirements whether to support a proprietary operating system or hardware,
or for the development of middleware and applications that are certifiable
to DO-178B or other safety critical software development methodologies.
ALT Software and FMA have a long-standing strategic partnership, sharing
several customers across a broad range of embedded market segments
including aerospace, automotive and medical. This newest integration is a
continuation of their mutual vision for the future of advanced graphics
technologies.
"The Defense, Aerospace and Avionics markets are demanding robust, low
power graphics solutions for applications such as cockpit displays in
commercial and military avionics equipment," said Dan Joncas, Vice
President of Sales at ALT Software. "ALT and Fujitsu are well-positioned
with this integrated solution to meet these challenges and provide complete
life-cycle supported products, whether for the A&D space, or other
applicable markets like automotive telematics, consumer, industrial or
medical."
"Fujitsu recognizes that the availability of versatile, dynamic, high
quality software is instrumental to the success of our Graphics Display
Controller products," said Dan Landeck, Product Marketing Manager of the
Multimedia Solutions Group of Fujitsu Microelectronics America. "We are
excited that ALT Software, the experts in graphics software solutions, is
now providing platform independent OpenGL Driver Kits for this our newest
high performance GPU, the Carmine."
