New Capability Added Through Investment in Saguna Networks Is Designed to
Improve Mobile User Experience Through an Application-Aware RAN
ADVA Optical Networking today
announced that it will be demonstrating its new Cachejack™
technology in
Booth 7D34, Hall 7, during Mobile World Congress 2013 at Barcelona's Fira
Gran
Via, Feb. 25-28. Cachejack™ is designed to improve mobile user
experience and
enable location-based services (LBS) through an application-aware radio
access
network (RAN) and optimize resource utilization by uniquely transporting
content
directly from the backhaul network straight to the mobile subscriber.
Visitors
to ADVA Optical Networking's booth, using their own mobile devices, will be
able
to experience how Cachejack™ accelerates downloading of content such as
video
streaming and high-resolution images from the Internet.
"We made a strategic investment last year in Saguna Networks and its
technology
for optimizing content delivery in mobile backhaul infrastructures, and
now we
have rapidly integrated this capability into our successful FSP 150 product
line
and are excited for the attendees of Mobile World Congress 2013 to
experience
the considerable improvements in user experience that Cachejack™
uniquely
delivers," said Christoph Glingener, chief technology officer of ADVA
Optical
Networking. "We continue to see fierce growth in demand for high-quality,
rich
content over mobile networks worldwide, and ADVA Optical
Networking
Cachejack™ enables mobile providers a compelling array of benefits as
they
seek to capitalize on this demand among their subscribers. Improving
user
experience, enabling new revenue-generating LBS and reducing transport
costs are
of prime value to today's mobile operators."
The ADVA Optical Networking solution loads popular content on integrated
cache
servers in cell site gateways or network interface devices (NID). That
content
is then delivered from a cache server, which is in closer proximity
to the
requesting user than the mobile core network. The effect is slashed
time to
first byte, translating into an enhanced user experience as subscribers
receive
content more quickly. In addition, Cachejack™ enables monetized
LBS
offerings; for example, advertisements tailored to a user's precise
location can
be delivered along with requested content. And Cachejack™ helps
operators
save bandwidth and money by optimizing mobile backhaul.
