Accused Guilty in Corruption Case


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 15, 2013) - Today in Ontario Superior Court, Nazir Karigar was found guilty of corrupting a public official contrary to s. 3(1)(b) of the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act.

Sentencing will occur at a later date. The maximum allowable sentence is five years imprisonment.

He was arrested in May 2010 following a multi-year investigation by the RCMP.

The Public Prosecution Service of Canada is responsible for prosecuting offences under federal jurisdiction in a manner that is free of any improper influence and that respects the public interest. The PPSC is also responsible for providing prosecution-related advice to law enforcement agencies across Canada.
