SAN RAMON, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 29, 2012) - Accela, Inc., the leading provider of mobile, web- and cloud-based software exclusively for government, announced that the Accela Inspector™ mobile app for government inspectors and investigators has been released for Android mobile devices. The current version, Accela Inspector 2.1.1, is part of the Accela 'Platform4Gov,' a framework for increasing government productivity and citizen engagement on top of Accela's foundational technology.
"The Inspector app has been fantastic!" said Accela customer Nicole Beckman-Montgomery, Building Permit Technician for the City of Westminster, CO. "The app is so intuitive that it requires less than an hour of training and very little set-up from an administrative perspective. Using apps has simplified how inspectors work out in the field and is much more cost-effective, both from a hardware and software perspective."
Accela Offers Government Inspectors Freedom to Use Mobile Platform and Device of Choice
As an addition to existing versions for iPhones and iPads (iOS mobile platform) and Windows 7 Phone, the current Android release completes the development of Mobile Inspector for all major mobile platforms. Unlike other industry players who design mobile apps only for the iPad, Accela has proven its commitment to develop productivity apps for government staff and citizens on the smartphone or tablet of their choice. "As part of our 'Platform4Gov,' Accela aims to universally empower our government customers and their citizens without limitation by creating apps for the three major mobile platforms," said Accela President and CEO, Maury Blackman.
Accela Inspector Increases Efficiency of Onsite Inspections and Investigations
Accela Inspector is one of Accela's expanding line of mobile apps for government, also including Accela Analytics™, Accela Work Crew™, and Accela Code Officer ™ that are integrated with the company's Accela Automation® enterprise software. Inspector allows permitting, licensing, and code enforcement professionals to perform complete onsite inspections and investigations by seamlessly connecting them to their back-office data and geographic-information-system (GIS) maps. The app prevents remote data loss in areas with limited or no cellular service by saving all work locally to the device and submitting the information when a connection is available.
In addition to its release for Android, Inspector 2.1.1 adds functionality to iOS mobile devices as follows:
- Agencies can specify which layers to show on GIS maps.
- In addition to seeing permit details, agency inspectors can also view and modify custom permit information i.e., application-specific information and tables.
Accela Inspector for Android can be downloaded at the Google Play Store; for iOS at the Apple iTunes Store; and for Windows 7 Phone at the Windows Phone Marketplace. Anyone can preview the app for free. Accela customers can download and use the app at no extra cost if their agency has an Accela mobile license.
