Zumobi and Sporting News Announce Mobile App Publishing Partnership

New NCAA and NBA Basketball Apps Round Out Portfolio of Professional and College Properties on Android and iOS Platforms

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - February 23, 2011) - Zumobi Inc., a mobile media publisher, and Sporting News today announced that they have formalized a long-term agreement for co-publishing mobile news apps in all of the major sports categories, professional and college. The agreement has been signed just as Zumobi and Sporting News add two new apps to strengthen and diversify the sports category on Zumobi's premium mobile app network. The Sporting News NCAA Basketball app is now available on both the iOS and Android platforms. The Sporting News Pro Basketball app is available on the Android platform and will be available on the iOS platform soon.

"Our brand promise is to fuel informed sports conversations among real fans," said Jeff Price, President and Publisher of Sporting News. "By working with Zumobi's co-publishing model and releasing our apps on The Zumobi Network, we deliver on that promise every minute of every day for real fans connected to the device of their choice. We look forward to publishing future Sporting News apps with Zumobi."

"The key to successful partnerships with media companies like Sporting News is that our business interests are completely aligned," said Ken Willner, CEO of Zumobi. "Because we are both committed to generating revenue with the apps over the long haul, we make a significant investment to deliver and maintain top quality apps for users, delivering desirable audiences and unique advertising options for Zumobi Network advertisers."

The Sporting News apps offer compelling sponsorship opportunities through Zumobi's proprietary "app-within-an-app" rich media advertising platform, BrandBlast. The Sporting News Pro and NCAA Basketball apps launched with an integrated, cross-platform brand advertising campaign for the Ford F150.

"We publish the apps directly, so our BrandBlast platform offers advertisers a much greater level of visibility than what they will find with blind audience buys on traditional ad networks," continued Willner. "Advertising on The Zumobi Network guarantees placement adjacent to trusted third party content that is contextually relevant. We also offer complete metrics transparency and cross-platform ad serving. That is what powers our publishing network and provides mutual benefits to all -- media partners, sponsors and most of all users."

The free Sporting News apps offer fans on-the-go access to news, scores, videos, standings and more for the major professional and college sports leagues on whichever mobile platform they use. Users can customize the apps for at-a-glance information about the games they can't miss and receive updates on their favorite conferences and teams. Push notifications keep users connected when breaking news hits and Facebook and Twitter connectivity allows users to share content with their social graph.

App Features include:

  • News, scores, videos, standings and stats;
  • Customization to select favorite teams and conferences;
  • Push notifications for up-to-the-minute news;
  • At-a-glance game information.

The new Sporting News Basketball apps are available for free as a part of The Zumobi Network, a premium mobile app network. The Zumobi Network offers a variety of entertaining, informative and useful mobile media applications to enjoy on next-generation smartphones.
