LONDON,
UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - March 16, 2010) - Wink Bingo is a hugely popular online
website and when it has winners it is news. Recently the news was about more
than just the amount of the prize but of the selflessness shown by a winner who
donated some of the £25,000 to the John Radcliffe Hospital. The lucky winner,
Myra Carbin donated the money to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of the
hospital so they could purchase equipment vital to the department and continue
their life-saving work with babies and young children who face difficulties and
require their expertise. The money was a token to personally say thank you for
the tremendous efforts by the team when the staff at John Radcliffe saved her
four week old daughter's life with essential bypass surgery.
Resident in the
Northampton area, Mrs Carbin was so appreciative of her good fortune both in
monetary terms and in the excellent work done at the John Radcliffe she decided
to share it and her big heart made sure the money went to the area that deals
with heart surgery. On hearing of their player's big heart, Wink Bingo
were so touched they matched the donation much to the delight and appreciation
of the team at the hospital. Penny Hambridge, the Children's Development
Officer at the John Radcliffe enthused about the generosity of Wink Bingo
saying that the donations allow them to purchase equipment otherwise
unavailable on an NHS budget alone.
The John Radcliffe has currently suspended paediatric heart
operations as their monitoring systems for tracking patient progress have shown
that four children have recently died within 30 days of cardiac surgery during
a three-and-a-half month period. This in itself need not be alarming but it
does reinforce the need for donations form well-wishers like Myra Carbin and
Wink Bingo for equipment and after care that might possibly prevent
unsuccessful outcomes with resulting fatalities.
