DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - January 6, 2009) - WFG Investments, Inc. is proud to announce that one of its registered representatives, Mike Leara, was elected as a State Representative in the Missouri House of Representatives in November's election. He will succeed Representative Jim Avery as the representative of the 95th legislative district.

By walking door-to-door talking to voters, Mike became passionate about several issues he will address and fight for in the Missouri Legislature during his tenure. Some of Mike's key issues include stopping eminent domain abuse, improving public education, reducing wasteful government spending, promoting job creation by reducing unfair regulations on small business owners, providing quality veterans' programs and protecting the agricultural community.

Currently Mike is the owner of Gateway Advisors, LLC, a branch office of WFG Investments, Inc. (member FINRA & SIPC) located in Sunset Hills, Missouri, a St. Louis suburb. Mr. Leara has been affiliated with Williams Financial Group since going independent in 1999 and later forming Gateway Advisors, LLC. Mike began his career in the financial services industry with Merrill Lynch in St. Louis and Houston, Texas. Moving back to St. Louis in 1995, Mike joined Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. until affiliating with WFG.

Mike began his political career as president of the Concord Township Republicans in 1997 and subsequently was appointed Committeeman of Concord Township in 2003. In 2004 and 2008 Mike ran unopposed for Committeeman of his township. While serving as Committeeman of Concord Township, Mike's additional service included Finance Chairman and Treasurer of the St. Louis County GOP, Chairman - 1st Senate District Committee, Treasurer - 2nd Congressional District Committee, Treasurer - 3rd Congressional District Committee and Treasurer of the 15th Senate District Committee.

Mike is married to his wonderful wife Patra and they have four children, Alexis - 6, Michael Jr. - 22, Katy - 24 and Rob - 26. The Learas are members of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in South St. Louis County and enjoy their two Australian Sheppard dogs Cosmo and Phoenix. In his spare time, Mike enjoys restoring muscle cars, motorcycles and target shooting.
