Water Damage Company, Damage Control, Inc., Prepared for Flood Restoration in Fargo, Moorhead, and Bismarck
FARGO, ND--(Marketwire - March 25, 2009) - The flood waters of the Red River in North Dakota have wreaked havoc on the cities of Bismarck, Fargo, and Moorhead the past week and Damage Control, Inc. is prepared to assist homeowners with getting their lives back in order after it's over. George Archer, President and CEO of Damage Control, states, "We've moved additional manpower and equipment into the area to be able to respond efficiently once we get the green light to begin the restorations."
Damage Control has years of experience with over 6,000 successful water damage restorations working in the disaster relief fields from hurricanes to flash floods to the more common busted water heater or flooded basement. They have the experience, technology, and certifications to prevent further mold outbreaks and make sure that your structure is safe for family and clients. With the recent news of the ice jam break near Bismarck, additional homes may be at risk, as this event has the potential to raise the water level by 2 feet.
If homes are not restored properly and in a timely manner, mold will set in and the entire structure will have to be destroyed, as in the case of Iowa City last year. Over the last week, FEMA authorized the demolition of over 300 buildings in the Iowa City area due to last year's event in that area and due to improper or complete lack of restoration. This means homeowners and business owners around the Fargo area have a limited amount of time to get a restoration crew working on their property after the water recedes before the building is condemned.
As in the Iowa City event, George predicts massive mold outbreaks after the flood. "Mold is a serious issue and many people don't realize the health threat that mold poses. People believe after the water is gone, the problem should go away, but it actually intensifies because you then have a very real time limit to get the property dried out and restored. Moisture can stay in insulation for weeks and mold thrives on drywall paper."
Document drying is another issue homes and businesses have to deal with once the flood is over. What used to be considered a total loss for most businesses is damaged paperwork due to floods, including tax records and other legal documentation. These items are also able to be restored, if the problem is addressed quickly. Homeowners can have such items as birth certificates, insurance papers, photographs, and other necessary documents restored, as well, with today's technology.
Homeowners should line up a restoration professional now to make sure a crew is available for their property after the waters have receded. "As we've seen in prior flooded environments, the waiting list grows after the water is gone," states George.
