Vizada Optimizes New IsatPhone Pro Data Capability With SkyFile Mail
Company Sees Over 350% Increase in Traffic Following Recent Global Events
WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - April 6, 2011) - Vizada, the world's largest independent satellite communications provider, is among the first Inmarsat Distribution Partners to roll out the new IsatPhone Pro email and data transfer capability to its entire network of more than 400 service provider partners. The company has further optimized the phone's data capability by adapting SkyFile Mail, Vizada's popular messaging and compression software, enabling an effective data rate up to 20 kbps for plain text emails.
In the last few months, Vizada has seen a sharp increase in traffic from IsatPhone Pro customers, notably in emergency response areas throughout the Middle East and Japan. Since the beginning of 2010, voice revenue from IsatPhone Pro customers has increased over 350 percent, demonstrating the benefits of satellite communications which transcend ground conditions.
"The reliability of Inmarsat's IsatPhone Pro as well as BGAN services have resulted in a strong demand for mission critical applications such as emergency response and other key government activities," said Larry Paul, Vice President of Business Development and Portfolio Management of Vizada Americas. "As we customize service options for the unique needs of our partners and their end customers, we expect IsatPhone Pro voice and data services will be increasingly integrated into the communications kit of more emergency response teams."
Vizada is helping its service providers easily transition customers by making the Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro firmware upgrade v. 4.0.0 and Vizada's SkyFile Mail software v. 8.03 downloadable via PartnerLink, Vizada's service provider portal and the Vizada web site: www.vizada.com. Vizada Customer Care will be available to help partners or customers through the needed steps to set up IsatPhone Pro data and/or SkyFile Mail as well as to make their first data call.
