TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 1, 2011) - Virgin Metals Inc. (TSX VENTURE:VGM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Federico Alvarez Ing. M Eng. as Vice President, Project Development operating out of the company's office in Hermosillo Mexico. Mr. Alvarez brings to Virgin Metals over 30 years of experience in the development and management of highly successful mining operations throughout Mexico.

Most recently the Vice President Operations at Argonaut Gold Inc's El Castillo mine, Mr. Alvarez's background includes the management of five underground and five open pit mining operations. He also served for five years as the Director of Mining Affairs for the State of Guanajuato Government. He obtained his Bachelor of Mining Engineering from Guanajuato University and his Masters of Engineering, Mining from McGill University.
Mr. Alvarez's initial activities will focus on the re-negotiation of long term surface right agreements with communities local to the Los Verdes property as well as the confirmation and updating of environmental and work permits required to advance the project towards production.
