IRVING, TX--(Marketwire - June 10, 2010) - VHA Inc., the national health care network, announced the appointment of Leslie Barden as senior vice president/executive officer of its VHA Empire-Metro regional office in New York. The VHA Empire-Metro office coordinates and directs VHA efforts to serve 42 hospitals in New York and two hospitals in Connecticut, one hospital in New Jersey and two hospitals in Pennsylvania, all along the New York State border.
"Leslie's extensive background in health care strategic planning, payer relationships and building effective coalitions across health care systems will help her effectively serve the diversity of members that are part of our region," said Dan Bourque, group senior vice president at VHA.

Between 1992 and 2006, she served in several administrative positions, advancing to corporate vice president of planning and market research. Barden started her career at UHS, completing an administrative residency as part of her graduate degree in health administration from Xavier University, Cincinnati. From 1988 to 1992, Barden was director of planning and market research at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J.
