TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 2, 2010) - The union representing 500 hotel workers at Toronto, Canada's downtown Delta Chelsea Hotel is today issuing an alert to the U.S. travel and tourism industry advising of the strike underway and urging the public to book elsewhere.

For the convenience of visitors and conference planners, UNITE HERE Local 75 is providing a list of "Please Patronize" hotels in the metro Toronto area. It is updated daily and can be found on the union's web site at: www.uniteherelocal75.org under the UNION HOTEL GUIDE.

"We know the high levels of service and experience found in union hotels attract customers, and we encourage that," says Paul Clifford, UNITE HERE Local 75 President. "But on those occasions where a labour dispute arises, we ideally want to be able to notify customers in advance, so that they can make the necessary arrangements."

Workers at Toronto's Delta Chelsea have been on strike since Wed., Oct. 27. Several groups and meetings have relocated, either in support of workers' issues or to avoid the lawful picket lines.

Negotiations with the hotel broke down last week. Crucial issues for the workers include safer workloads, economic security and the protection of stable full time jobs.
