Celebrate Maple Leaf Day with Tree Canada
OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 19, 2008) - Tree Canada is encouraging all Canadian municipalities and residents to take part in Maple Leaf Day on September 24, Canada's national day to celebrate our trees and urban forests.
"Maple Leaf Day is a day where all Canadians can take the time to appreciate the natural beauty around us, and become active in preserving our trees and forests for future generations," said Michael Rosen, President of Tree Canada.
This year marks the 9th year that Tree Canada and Home Hardware have partnered together to green communities. Tree Canada and Home Hardware have organized planting events in the following 23 communities across Canada: Kaslo, B.C., Carlye, Sask.; Devon, Alta.; Osoyoos, B.C.; Castlegar, B.C.; Hantsport, N.S.; Morden, Man.; Hudson Bay, Sask.; Wawa, Ont.; Forestbury, Alta.; Parrsboro, N.S.; Snow Lake, Man.; Strathcona County, Alta.; Coboconk, Ont.; Wasaga Beach, Ont.; St. Isidore, Ont.; Vankleek Hill, Ont.; Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Neepawa, Man.; Kingsville, Ont.; Ingersoll, Ont.; Casselman, Ont.; and Cobourg, Ont..
Four municipalities have declared September 24 as Maple Leaf Day: Ottawa, Ont.; Cold Lake, Alta.; Oshawa, Ont.; and Regina, Sask.
