Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and Cynthia Nixon Encourage Nation to "Go Passionately Pink" to End Breast Cancer Forever

"Sex and the City" Star Shows Her True Colors in October 2008

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - August 26, 2008) - Actor and breast cancer survivor Cynthia Nixon is teaming up with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and challenging the nation to raise $4.5 million through Passionately Pink for the Cure®. The simple national fundraising program inspires breast cancer advocacy and honors those affected by the disease.

Passionately Pink for the Cure invites companies, organizations, social groups or individuals to wear pink for a day and donate $5 or more to Komen for the Cure. The program was launched in May and runs through October 2008. Last year, more than 8,000 businesses, schools, places of worship and social organizations went Passionately Pink, raising nearly $4 million for breast cancer research and community health programs.

As a breast cancer survivor and the daughter of a two-time breast cancer survivor, Nixon is passionate about spreading awareness for a disease that has had a large impact on her family. She also works to motivate women to take charge of their own health by educating themselves about their personal risk for the disease.

"In today's world it's hard to find someone whose life hasn't been touched by breast cancer in either a personal diagnosis or one of a family member. I know first-hand the struggles breast cancer can bring and I will do everything I can to end this disease," Nixon said. "Passionately Pink for the Cure is just one of the ways I'm playing my part in making a world without breast cancer."

In addition to donning pink attire, Passionately Pink for the Cure encourages participants to make their "Passionately Pink" days creative, fun and educational. Groups can keep it simple with pink wardrobe pieces -- socks, ties, shirts or ribbons -- or they can be zany with ideas like Hawaiian-inspired themes and apparel. Groups can host luncheons to honor breast cancer survivors or bring in speakers to educate participants about the disease. The goal is to inspire advocacy and raise funds to discover and deliver the cures for breast cancer.

Seventy-five percent of donations received through Passionately Pink for the Cure fund research to find the cures for breast cancer, and the remaining 25 percent supports community health programs which serve the breast health needs of millions.

To "Go Passionately Pink," register at www.passionatelypink.org. Registered groups will receive a free participation kit that includes ideas and promotional materials for their Passionately Pink day. For more information visit www.newsinfusion.com.
