SUPERIOR, CO--(Marketwire - May 19, 2009) - StillSecure®, provider of secure network infrastructure solutions, today announced a fully managed vulnerability management service for its ProtectPoint™ managed security services platform. The new service is based on StillSecure's award-winning vulnerability management system, VAM®, and is the first of StillSecure's products to be offered as a managed service.
Effective vulnerability management takes into account regulatory compliance requirements as well as the threat from decreased time between the identification of a vulnerability and its exploit. When implemented as a service, vulnerability management also maximizes the efficiency of IT resources and reduces the time it takes to scan and fix network vulnerabilities.
According to Gartner, Inc., "The reasons for outsourcing security monitoring and management are changing. Early adopters of managed security services were typically looking for expertise in recognizing and evaluating security incidents, but among more recent buyers, the desire to reduce costs -- especially in the current environment of highly constrained security budgets -- and to meet regulatory requirements is becoming a more important driver of outsourcing."(1.)
The StillSecure vulnerability management service provides fully managed scanning (using external and internal scans), identification, analysis and reporting of network vulnerabilities. Once a scan is completed, StillSecure provides customers with detailed reports around compliance, remediation, and risk management. Vulnerability lifecycle status is also analyzed to generate high-level and in-depth, granular reports for auditors, managers, security staff, and system administrators. In addition, remediation instructions are provided, including links to patches that should be applied.
"With each new offering that StillSecure adds to its ProtectPoint managed security service, we continue to see increased demand from customers, especially those wanting to deploy a robust security posture that includes technologies like IDS/IPS and vulnerability management," said Jeff Spalding, EVP, Market Operations at Peak 10, Inc. "Many of these customers don't have the time, resources or money to install these products in-house so by rolling them into our data center services we're able to keep our customers secure without requiring them to commit additional resources."
"Vulnerability management is a key component of the layered security model, yet many companies don't have the time or resources to effectively manage the vulnerability lifecycle process," said Alan Shimel, Chief Strategy Officer at StillSecure. "With StillSecure's ProtectPoint managed security services, companies can take advantage of a fully managed solution that makes it easier to lock down the network and pass regulatory compliance audits."
StillSecure's ProtectPoint managed security services, which are SAS-70 Type II audited, help organizations lower total cost of ownership by leveraging external security experts as an extension of their staff. Managed security services include firewall, IDS/IPS, VPN, anti-spam, anti-virus, content filtering, and vulnerability management, which are all backed by a 24x7x365 Security Operations Center (SOC) staffed by certified security analysts.
