Douglas Fast Appointed President of Spectrum Signal Processing by Vecima

Strategic leadership to grow Spectrum's existing business and pursue new opportunities

BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 9, 2009) - Spectrum Signal Processing by Vecima ("Spectrum"), a part of Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX:VCM), today announced the appointment of Mr. Douglas Fast as President of Spectrum. In this role, Mr. Fast will develop, manage, and execute the overall strategy for Spectrum, and will provide essential hands-on technical and business leadership throughout the organization.

Prior to joining Spectrum, Mr. Fast was Executive Vice President of Spectrum's parent company, Vecima Networks Inc. During his 15 years at Vecima, Mr. Fast was instrumental in driving the widespread adoption of software and FPGA technology throughout Vecima's product base, and was the key architect of a number of Vecima's most successful products including its line up of QAM modulator modules, as well as its Vistalynx Edge QAM and Cablevista Edge Decoder products. As part of his executive role, Mr. Fast was involved in engineering leadership, organizational strategy, operations, and M&A activities, and was significantly involved in the acquisition of Spectrum Signal Processing, Inc. in May 2007.

Mr. Fast holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering (Digital Communications) from the University of Saskatchewan.
