Legal and Tax Professions Grow and Publishers Cash in, Says Simba Information's "Global Legal & Business Publishing 2008-2009"
STAMFORD, CT--(Marketwire - August 21, 2008) - The number of lawyers, paralegals, CPAs and accountants continues to increase, affording a steady market for publishers that supply the critical content and workflow these professionals rely on every day, according to "Global Legal & Business Publishing 2008-2009," the latest research report from Simba Information.
The combined global markets for legal and business publishing grew 6.4% to $15.13 billion in 2007. Legal publishing continues to be the largest segment in professional publishing with revenue of $9.93 billion in 2007, up 6.9% from $9.3 billion in 2006. Simba projects sales in the legal and business markets combined will grow 5% to $15.89 billion in 2008.
Labor statistics suggest that the number of accountants and auditors in the U.S. alone will grow 15% to 1.5 million by 2016. The number of attorneys consistently increases by at least 2.3% a year in the U.S. and Europe. In addition, the growth rate for paralegals and legal assistants is expected to exceed 28% by 2012. Recent economic doldrums will have the effect of slowing growth in these segments, but the long-term outlook for publishers is bright based on the steady growth of their professional customer base.
The newly released Simba report provides an overview and financial outlook for the global legal and business publishing markets based on specific research and analysis of the leading competitors in the markets and market performance in six content delivery categories. This research was conducted in conjunction with a larger study of the overall market for professional publishing, including scientific, technical and medical publishing, the results of which will be published in the associated reports "Global STM Publishing 2008-2009" and "Global Professional Publishing 2008-2009" due out later this year.
"Global Legal & Business Publishing 2008-2009" also includes detailed profiles of leading publishers in the legal and business segments, such as Reed Elsevier, Thomson Reuters and Wolters Kluwer.
