San Francisco Parlor Opera to Perform W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at San Francisco's Historic Zellerbach Home
Each Act Performed in a Different Room
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - April 18, 2008) - On May 1, 3, 22 and 24, 2008 San
Francisco Parlor Opera will perform W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at
1550 Fell Street in the Historic Zellerbach mansion. Instead of the scenes
changing on a dedicated stage, the audience will move from room to room as
the story progresses. Acts I and II will take place in separate rooms of
the attic. Act III will take place in the main floor parlor and Act IV
will take place in the backyard garden. The opera will be performed in the
original Italian. An English narration will precede each act.
The Zellerbach mansion was originally built in 1893 by Isadore Zellerbach.
The current owner is Bonnie Spindler of Spindler Properties Inc. who
generously donates the use of her home to SF Parlor Opera for these
performances as part of her Salon Series for Emerging Artists.
San Francisco Parlor Opera is a small opera company founded in 2008 by Cole
Grissom, Elizabeth O'Neill and Patricia Urbano and based in San Francisco.
SF Parlor Opera performs operas in their original language to small
audiences in private homes and other intimate settings. SF Parlor Opera is
committed to carrying the power and beauty of opera in an immediate
environment with the audience as close to the music and drama as possible.
Le Nozze di Figaro is the first production of San Francisco Parlor Opera.
Mr. Grissom will sing the title role of Figaro and also serve as the stage
director. Ms. Urbano will sing the role of Susanna. Ms. O'Neill will sing
the role of Cherubino. The rest of the cast is as follows: Count Almaviva
by Michael Beetham; the Countess by Marisol Urbano; Marcellina by Kathleen
Moorehead; Dr. Bartolo by Efrain Lazcano; Barbarina by Olgalydia Urbano;
Don Basilio by Daniel Pias; and Don Curzio by Neal Pascua. The music
director is Jungmee Kim. Arnold Levinson will be the narrator.
