Roofing Contractors in Cedar Park, Georgetown, and Marble Falls, Tx., and Damage Control, Inc. Prepared for Hail Damaged Roofing
WACO, TX--(Marketwire - March 27, 2009) - Damage Control, Inc., disaster restoration specialists, has brought in additional support personnel, supplies, and equipment for the hail storm disaster that rolled through Cedar Park, Georgetown, and Marble Falls, Tx. earlier today leaving a path of sometimes deceptive damages to local homeowners and commercial properties.
Hail damage to roofing material is sometimes not caught by the untrained eye because of the nature of the damage to most standard roofing materials after the storm. There have even been many cases where insurance adjusters have denied claims of hail damage due to a lack of training on how to recognize it on the most common types of roofing materials.
Both the biggest and most common problem is that with fiberglass/asphalt shingles, sometimes referred to as composite roofing material, the protective granular surface is broken loose from the asphalt and therefore exposes the asphalt to direct sunlight, which makes the shingle deteriorate at an extremely rapid rate.
These protective granules are the first line of defense against UV rays that directly attack the asphalt, which is what gives roofing material its waterproofing capabilities and prevents water damage on the roofs of homes and businesses. When hail hits the granules that are held in place by asphalt, the granules are loosened and over the next few rain and wind events are displaced even more. The roof begins deteriorating significantly after this occurs. This usually leaves the owner of the structure holding the bag after a year or so with the total cost of roof replacement when the homeowners insurance should in reality cover the cost.
"Only a professional and experienced roofing contractor can identify the damage in most cases because most insurance adjusters do adjustments for almost every kind of claim and are not fully trained to recognize hail damage at the level needed for these disasters," states George Archer, CEO of Damage Control, Inc.
The best solution is to get a qualified expert roofing contractor or roofing inspector to have a look at your roof if you suspect that your home or business may have been affected by this recent hail storm.
