Riverside HealthCare Awards Auxiliary Scholarship Recipients
KANKAKEE, IL--(Marketwire - July 1, 2010) - Riverside HealthCare recently awarded two $1,000 renewable scholarships to area students pursuing a degree in a health care related field. As one of the top hospitals in IL, Riverside is honored to help students who are excited to enter into the field of medicine. Jaclyn French and Jamila Salvador are the two lucky recipients of the award for the 2010 school year.
The Scholarship Chairman of the south Chicago Illinois healthcare provider, Sharon Riordan, presented the Susan Schott Memorial Scholarship to these two outstanding students. Jaclyn French graduated from St. Anne High School and will be attending Kankakee Community College to become a registered nurse. Needless to say, the Kankakee Illinois hospital is very proud of her ambition. Riverside is equally impressed with Jamila Salvador from Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School. She will be attending the University of Illinois Chicago and will study Psychiatry.
The Auxiliary Health Career Scholarships, in the form of grants, are awarded each year to students who are working toward a degree, certificate or continuing education from an accredited institution. Applicants are limited to one scholarship per school year. The awards can be used for tuition, books and room and board expenses. One thing to keep in mind is that only students or residents of Kankakee County are eligible for the scholarship. The school that the student will be attending must be an accredited or recognized school, but does not have to be located in Illinois. These scholarships are made possible by the annual dues and fundraising efforts of the Auxiliary membership.
The award will be received in two disbursements; half in the fall and half in the spring. Students must present a copy of their class schedule and previous semester's grades before scholarship funds are released. If a student who received the award drops out of school while using the scholarship the unused portion of the award must be returned.
To apply for this amazing scholarship opportunity for the 2011 school year, applicants must apply to the scholarship committee in early March. Make sure to include a high school transcript, aptitude test results, resume of extra-curricular activities, profile of yourself, two letters of reference, a completed application form and an official proof of acceptance to the school of your choice.
