QuestAir to Supply Second System to Recover Methane From Biogas in Switzerland
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - March 12, 2007) - QuestAir Technologies Inc. (TSX:QAR)(AIM:QAR) announced today that it has received an order for a second M-3200 PSA system to recover pipeline grade methane from biogas generated by an anaerobic digester in Switzerland.
Jonathan Wilkinson, President and CEO of QuestAir said that Verdesis Suisse SA has purchased QuestAir's system as part of a plant that will recover so-called 'biomethane' from biogas generated by the anaerobic digestion of agricultural and organic wastes at a site in Widnau, Switzerland.
"The Swiss Government has provided strong support for locally-sourced renewable energy through initiatives such as the 'Klimarappen' or 'climate cent' funding program, as well as direct tax breaks for Swiss utilities that supplement imported gas with locally-sourced biomethane."
"This government support, and the attractive economics of QuestAir's methane purification technology, has created strong pull for projects such as Widnau that convert agricultural waste into renewable biomethane fuel," Wilkinson said.
Roger Schneider, Director of GRAVAG Erdgas AG said, "PSA is a proven, reliable technology. The rotary valve concept of QuestAir is innovative, convincing and state of the art. Emphasis is further given to the ecological impact - the concept of Verdesis Suisse SA with an integrated Flox burner for the PSA exhaust provides a maximum overall methane recovery (99 %) with zero methane emitted to the atmosphere."
The Widnau plant will be owned and operated by Biogasanlage Widnau AG. Product biomethane from the plant will be injected into the local natural gas distribution grid operated by GRAVAG Erdgas AG, a Swiss gas utility.
About the QuestAir M-3200
QuestAir's M-3200 purifies methane-containing gas streams such as landfill gas and anaerobic digester gas to high purity methane, suitable for supplementing existing natural gas supplies. The M-3200's optimized Pressure Swing Adsorption ("PSA") process and proprietary rotary valve technology deliver higher efficiency than conventional PSA systems in a more compact, cost effective package. QuestAir's M-3200 system can upgrade up to 300,000 cubic feet of biogas per day.
