Prevx Launches eSAC 3.0 to Help Banks and eCommerce Sites Protect Customers Against Criminal Malware
Prevx ESAC 3.0 allows any company involved in online financial transactions to carry out a fast security scan of the customer's PC to ensure safe login
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Dec. 9, 2008) - Prevx today announces the launch of a new Customer Security Management product designed to allow banks and ecommerce sites to remotely scan their customer's PC for information stealing malware at point of login. The new eSac 3.0 works entirely independently of a customer's existing security software to ensure the transacting PC is free from targeted malware designed to steal bank details, credit card details, passwords and other personal data.
Previously banks have offered mainstream security products to their customers at discounted prices or for free, forcing the customer to de-install their chosen security solution and causing significant legal exposure should the recommended product fail. Prevx eSac 3.0, which can be rolled out in a number of days, means banks and other eCommerce sites can for the first time ensure a transacting consumer PC is safe, without forcing the customer to remove their existing choice of security software.
Prevx's new Customer Security Management software provides powerful malware detection and remediation capabilities in a format which can be controlled directly by the Bank's own web application. eSac detects and highlights malicious software that frequently defeats conventional security products and in tests provides a 30%+ boost in malware detection. Uniquely, eSac provides joint notification to the user and the eCommerce application if an infection is detected, allowing either party to avoid any exposure of confidential information. This approach ensures even the most advanced malware is detected.
eSac can be configured to scan customer PCs in around 20 seconds at the point of logon but before any credentials are entered. Each scan involves no interaction from the customer and can be provided to banks and other eCommerce organisations on a marginal cost per login.
Mel Morris, CEO of Prevx said, "Banks have been suffering from an accelerating cost of fraud at a time when anything that hits their profits is unwelcome. By taking a new and original approach to the fast changing world of malicious software, Prevx is able to offer banks and other on-line businesses a solution which is easy to implement, highly scalable and doesn't impact on the consumer in any way. In addition, customers gain the opportunity to add a fresh layer of protection to their computer, giving greater security and confidence in the services they use.
"eSac is another example of Prevx designing intelligent security software which is designed to minimise the impact of the plethora of emerging threats which are designed to bypass outdated security software approaches. Prevx believes that the security market is currently being limited by a mutually exclusive approach which forces users to run just one piece of software. Security could be massively improved if vendors reconsidered this approach and worked with a joined up approach."
