Opening Keynote for Add-on-Con Conference to Focus on New Business Models in a Difficult Economy
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - December 4, 2008) - Browsers have become rich platforms --
providing great distribution to highly engaged users. Add-on companies have
shown that browser-centric innovation can drive rapid adoption and attract
investment from top venture firms. What has been less clear is how these
companies transition to revenue.
Add-on-Con's opening Keynote will be moderated by venture capitalist Jeremy
Liew of Lightspeed Venture Partners. During this one hour session Mr. Liew
will review the business models of today's most popular add-on companies.
-- Cooliris's Alec Jeong will talk about the innovative way it is
reaching 2.5 million active users
-- Alex Iskold of AdaptiveBlue will share how Glue generates revenues by
creating a pipe for consumer transactions
-- Adam Boyden of Conduit will discuss the 140,000 publishers from 180
countries that have joined the Conduit Network
-- OneRiot's CEO Kimbal Musk will talk about how add-ons drive search
traffic
Over the past year, 3 basic revenue themes for Add-ons have emerged:
Advertising, Selling data, and Selling services. "What is interesting is
how the different add-on companies are innovating across these standard
models. They're benefiting from the ubiquitous presence that is only
available to browser add-ons," says conference organizer Robert Reich.
The first Add-on-Con is sponsored by Microsoft and Mozilla. The event is
scheduled for December 11, 2008 in Mountain View California at the Computer
History Museum.
