One® Condoms Introduces LifeGuard 2.0 With More Reasons to Become a Sexpert
BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - September 15, 2008) - Students are descending upon campuses nationwide and One® Condoms is there to greet them with the new and improved One® LifeGuard Program. The program, initially launched during the 2007-2008 academic year, finished strong with over 600 registered LifeGuards from 60 colleges and universities from 23 states.
After wrapping up a successful inaugural year in June, the program was modified to include virtual and real life street teams, additional quizzes and a greater number of prizes.
According to the CDC, each year there are approximately 19 million new STIs, nearly half of which occur in males and females under the age of 24. One® Condoms created the interactive peer-to-peer LifeGuard program combining educational programs with social media technologies and networking as a direct response to the crisis.
"We are truly encouraged by the number of students who participated in the inaugural year of our LifeGuard Program," stated Davin Wedel, president and founder of One® Condoms. "It's a sign of great things to come when so many students on campuses throughout the nation are embracing the idea of personal responsibility when it comes to spreading the word about smart sexual health behavior."
Last year's winning LifeGuard, James Dolan of Westfield State College in Westfield Massachusetts, earned over 24,000 points by participating and coordinating quiz drives, attending health fairs and encouraging his peers to take part in the program, and participating in online outreach and awareness building about safe sex. For his efforts, Dolan received a $1,500 scholarship.
