NetShelter Technology Media Announces "Last Gadget Standing" Top Ten Finalists at CES
Come Vote for Your Favorite New Gadget at the 8th Annual People's Choice Competition
LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - January 8, 2009) - One of the most highly anticipated events of the CES season is upon us, and tech enthusiasts everywhere have been anxiously awaiting the names of the top 10 finalists that will battle to become the Last Gadget Standing on Saturday, January 10 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. And the results are finally in!
Among the 100-plus submissions, just 10 finalists have been chosen by expert judges, including Robin Raskin, Last Gadget Standing moderator and tech expert, and eight editors from NetShelter Technology Media network partner sites, namely Geek.com, Slashgear.com, MobileBurn.com, PhoneArena.com, FixYa.com, I4U.com, TechEBlog.com and TGDaily.com.
Here are the top 10 finalists, in no particular order:
1. Eye-Fi: The winner of last year's coveted Last Gadget Standing unveils its most ground-breaking product yet -- the Eye-Fi Video Card. It allows users to wirelessly upload videos and even allows you to share your videos in real time, over the Internet.
2. Bug Labs: Consumers can create their own gadget out of these modular and programmable electronic units.
3. ClickFree: A company with easy-to-use digital storage solutions reveals its latest gadget -- the Transformer USB cable. The backup smarts are in the cable.
4. emWave PSR: This portable biofeedback tool from HeartMath helps users reduce stress, balance emotions and increase performance.
5. FlipMino HD: The world's smallest HD-quality video camcorder, the Mino HD, features 4GB of memory and up to 60 minutes of recording time and all-new built-in FlipShare software for easy saving, organizing and sharing of video.
6. LiveScribe Smart Pulse Pen: You'll never miss a word with this pen-sized computer that records and syncs audio with what you write.

8. Motorola ZN5: According to the judges, it's the first mobile phone that lets them feel comfortable leaving their digital camera behind. The MOTOZINE™ ZN5 is the only product that combines Motorola's mobile device design, call quality and technology with Kodak's powerful imaging innovation and leadership.
9. T-Mobile G1 Powered by Google Android: A complete portable Web solution right in your pocket. The T-Mobile Android is the first mobile phone to feature Google's Android operating system, offering free email access to Gmail users.
10. WowWee: The leading innovator of hi-tech consumer robotic and entertainment products unwraps its newest product -- Joebot -- a walking, talking, interactive buddy, and with more personality than robots before him.
"These top ten finalists represent the technologies that will endure long after CES is over. The Last Gadget competition lets attendees and online viewers have their say about what's hot. It's a people's choice," said moderator and tech expert Robin Raskin.
You can find out more about each of these finalists -- and many of the other products submitted to the competition -- by going to LastGadgetStanding.com. Now it's up to you which one will take home the top prize. You can vote for a winner online in a winner-take-all contest.
Or you can cheer you favorite gadget to infamy at the 8th Annual Last Gadget Standing supersession. Each finalist has four minutes to demo their gadgets live before a Last Gadget Standing crowd, but there can be only ONE winner -- determined by audience applause.
"Our judges, representing NetShelter's growing network of sites, have been pouring over product submissions for the past month," said Patrick Houston, Chief Publisher of NetShelter Technology Media. "They picked these 10 products for their promise to satisfy a true need and develop marketplace staying power -- unlike so many other gadgets that come and go."
"Even if they aren't blockbusters in their own right, many of the gadgets chosen during the competition represent categories or trends certain to affect the way we live," added Houston.
Past winners -- the Eye-Fi Card, OnStar, Roomba -- make it pretty clear that the audience knows its stuff and can pick winning technologies.
Adding to the excitement will be a tech trivia game and product giveaways, some provided by Last Gadget Standing finalists. Come see all ten! They're all winners.
