This latest edition of the annual employee awards program recognizes more than 30 employees from throughout the CN system for their team and individual achievements in various areas covering the company's five principles: Service, Cost Control, Asset Utilization, Safety and People. The annual President's Awards program showcases employees whose ingenuity, passion and dedication contribute to CN's continued performance as North America's best railroad. "Our employees have demonstrated their commitment to our five principles," says E. Hunter Harrison, CN President and Chief Executive Officer. "And they have done so in unique and creative ways. On behalf of CN, I am pleased to recognize them for their outstanding contribution to the company." Each year, CN employees nominate their deserving colleagues as candidates for the CN President's Awards for Excellence program. Winners are invited to a gala evening, and are awarded 20 CN shares. Bruno Michaud, computer systems officer, IT, and member of CN's Mainframe Install Team, received a CN President's Award for Excellence in the Service category. Thanks to the members of this team, CN's three mainframe computers have been replaced with two newer model mainframes, translating into $1.9 million in savings in 2004 alone. Aware that any outages of the mainframe computers which host CN's most critical applications would hurt operations of the railroad, they used care and professionalism in tackling the complex and highly technical task of replacing the mainframes. They accomplished the task on weekends over a five-week period, ensuring that every detail of the work was achieved successfully, and avoiding any disruptions to operations. Canadian National Railway Company spans Canada and mid-America, from the Atlantic and Pacific oceans to the Gulf of Mexico, serving the ports of Vancouver, Prince Rupert, B.C., Montreal, Halifax, New Orleans, and Mobile, Ala., and the key cities of Toronto, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Duluth, Minn./Superior, Wis., Green Bay, Wis., Minneapolis/St. Paul, Memphis, St. Louis, and Jackson, Miss., with connections to all points in North America. -30-
