Mayor Jerry Sanders to Welcome "Cleantech Capital Summit" to San Diego
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - April 3, 2009) - Jacques Chirazi, the City of San Diego's Cleantech Initiative Manager, has confirmed that Mayor Jerry Sanders will provide an official welcome address to the attendees of the upcoming "Cleantech Capital Summit," scheduled for April 22-24, 2009 at the Hilton Del Mar Resort.
A long-time advocate of the cleantech and renewable energy industries, Mayor Sanders launched the city's first cleantech initiative during his first term in April of 2007 and is currently spearheading plans to implement an AB 811 program which would allow San Diego homeowners to pay for a solar system through their property taxes.
Although the cleantech industry in often associated with Northern California's Silicon Valley, the San Diego area is gaining ground as an industry hub and is home to some 200 cleantech companies with more than 20% of them currently active in the arena of renewable energy.
However, whether a cleantech company is an established entity or a fledgling start-up isn't essential, because the unique thrust of the "Cleantech Capital Summit" is funding -- and how to tap into it. Sessions will be devoted to venture finance, investment banks, private equity and public capital markets, among others; bringing lenders and investors together with developers to network, share their perspectives and establish a common ground for moving this game-changing industry forward.
The Summit will feature nearly 40 speakers from the financial spectrum, as well as several key developers who will share their lessons-learned regarding the mutually beneficial relationships they've established with their financial providers. This high-profile roster will be lead by Maria P. Sendra, a Partner in the San Diego office of Baker & McKenzie, one of the world's leading law firms, with substantial support from senior representatives of Chadbourne & Parke LLP, Jefferies, and Stoel Rives LLP.
