With data volumes doubling every 18 months and companies unsure how to wade through the quagmire of information, thousands of organizations are betting their businesses on the promise of the Lucene/Solr community innovation engine to make search-enabled applications a competitive weapon. The Lucene Revolution conference will span the gap between commercial and open source development, making Lucene/Solr more accessible to those experienced in commercial search products.

"In the 15 months since launching Lucid Imagination, we've seen open source grow from a compelling technology to a key part of evolving search strategies in organizations large and small," said Eric Gries, CEO of Lucid Imagination. "Lucene Revolution affords an opportunity for technologists and managers transitioning to the more productive, flexible Lucene/Solr open source search platform to engage with the community and each other -- and to unleash the power of open source innovation on the most compelling data and search challenges they face. Whether you're well acquainted with Lucene/Solr or new to the scene, we welcome you to what promises to be an industry-shaping event." The Lucene Revolution conference comes on the heels of the success of sold-out Apache Lucene EuroCon 2010 in Prague, sponsored by Lucid Imagination, the single largest gathering of open source search developers to date.

Conference Track Speakers

Conference attendees will be able to take advantage of in-depth training, followed by two days packed with Lucene and Solr open source search content and talks by search and open source experts. Stephen E. Arnold, noted author and prolific commenter on search technology and trends in the Beyond Search blog, will serve as the Content Chair for Lucene Revolution.

"Open source search continues to attract attention. The high cost of proprietary solutions and associated lock-in have forced hordes of enterprises to look for more open source options," said Stephen Arnold, President, ArnoldIT. "Open source search warrants an in-depth conference so that business and technical issues can be more fully understood."

The conference call for speakers is now open; the deadline for submissions is June 23, 2010. Individuals are encouraged to submit proposals for papers and talks that focus on categories including enterprise case studies, cloud-based deployment of Lucene/Solr, large-scale search, and data integration. Guidelines for submissions are available at www.lucenerevolution.org/cfp
