LAN Airlines Recognized in Zagat's Latest Airline Survey

MIAMI--(CCNMatthews - Nov 22, 2005) -

Airline passengers in North America have recognized LAN Airline's service as "very good to excellent," according to the latest results published in Zagat's latest Airline Survey.

The analysis was based on voting by 5,277 passengers who rated 22 American and 55 international carriers on various factors such as the service, comfort, in-flight food and corporate website.

LAN Airlines was ranked among the best international airlines by survey participants with service rated as "very good to excellent," while comfort and in-flight meals were voted "good to very good." LAN's website also scored a "good" rating for the information and other services it provides to customers.

In the "Top Overall" category, LAN ranked fifth place among premium classes along with British Airways, All Nippon and Malaysia Airlines.

In the "Top Comfort" category, LAN ranked in third place among premium classes along with South African Airways, Continental Airlines, Emirates, All Nippon and Qantas Airways.

In the "Top Service" category, LAN ranked sixth place among premium classes, and fifth place among economy classes along with Virgin Atlantic and Air New Zealand.

In the "Top Food" category, LAN ranked fifth place among premium classes along with Air France and Swiss International Air Lines, and fourth place among economy classes along with Virgin Atlantic and Air France.

In its summary of the international airlines, Zagat's survey results reported that LAN Airlines stands out for its efficiency, pro- service, modern aircraft and lots of amenities, and says, "this very competent Chilean carrier (and oneworld member) has many calling it 'Latin America's most reliable airline." The summary goes on to recognize touches like individual TVs and very good wine, and says that "premium classes can be a real pleasure thanks to personalized attention, good food and reasonably roomy quarters."

The passengers participating in the survey reported taking an average of 4.8 international flights per year. The survey reflects the experiences of passengers aboard a total of some 25,000 international flights per year, approximately 70 flights per day.
