Study Unveils U.S. Managers Are in the Dark When It Comes to Monitoring Corporate Vehicle Whereabouts
SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - September 3, 2008) - According to a recent study of business
supervisors commissioned by TeleNav Inc., 94% of those who deploy corporate
vehicles are completely unaware of their fleets' location during work
hours.
"The results of our survey are staggering. Not knowing where your fleet is
throughout the day can result in higher fuel costs, increased payroll
expenses and sub-par customer service. By actively managing the location of
these fleets, companies can unlock hidden savings and improve overall
service," said Sal Dhanani, co-founder and senior director of marketing at
TeleNav.
Mobile Resource Management (MRM) software and GPS-enabled cell-phones allow
companies to know where their vehicles are at any given time. Through this,
businesses of all sizes are able to increase their productivity and reduce
costs. According to industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan, "MRM services
appeal to all sizes of companies, with customer rollouts reaping a high,
hard-dollar ROI based on a number of business benefits, including reduced
fuel and labor costs and improved job completion rates."(1)
For example, line managers can use GPS tracking to review routes to see if
trips are running longer than expected, or determine the vehicle nearest to
the customer and dispatch more efficiently. Additionally, MRM services can
estimate how long it will take a vehicle to reach a customer's location,
which can help increase overall customer satisfaction.
GPS navigation provides vehicles with direct routes, reducing mileage
driven and unnecessary fuel use, while also saving valuable time employees
might spend lost in the field. Furthermore, as employees travel on direct
and shorter routes, less routine vehicle maintenance is needed.
TeleNav's MRM service, TeleNav Track, uses cost-effective GPS mobile
phones and an Internet-connected computer to give companies visibility into
their fleets. Since TeleNav Track is a Web-based hosted service, companies
do not need to install special software on their computers and do not
require an upfront IT investment.
TeleNav Track includes a variety of workforce management features,
including GPS tracking / reporting and navigation, as well as wireless job
dispatching, wireless forms and barcode scanning. Currently, more than
9,000 organizations rely on TeleNav Track to help manage their mobile
resources. Industry analyst firm, Frost & Sullivan, recently recognized
TeleNav Track with its 2008 North American Mobility Award for Best MRM
Solution on a Handheld Device. For a free consultation or to order TeleNav
