EPUB is the file format for digital reflowable text and recently became an official IDPF Standard. "The EPUB format is gaining traction with support coming from all corners of the publishing industry," said Steve Potash, president of IDPF. "Recent announcements by Adobe, Mobipocket and many others at Digital Book 2008, and a letter of support from American Association of Publishers, demonstrate the momentum behind EPUB adoption."

Significant EPUB announcements were made by dozens of market leaders at Digital Book 2008, a one-day gathering of more than 400 publishers and technology companies held earlier this month. Adobe Systems announced the release of Adobe Digital Editions 1.5, which reads the native EPUB format. Additionally, Mobipocket announced that its conversion software MobiGen 6.2 can batch compile the EPUB format into their proprietary Mobipocket format.
