INTEGRITY Global Security Points to WikiLeaks as Example of How New Technology Adoption Can Protect Classified Government Documents
SANTA BARBARA, CA--(Marketwire - August 4, 2010) - The WikiLeaks exposure of more than 90,000 classified documents about the growing insurgency in Afghanistan highlights the need for newly certified technology that would enforce access policies surrounding some of the US government's most sensitive information.
According to INTEGRITY Global Security, the leading provider of high-robustness IT security solutions for government and commercial enterprises, a massive leak can be prevented by enforcement of hierarchical access policies using the newest high robustness security technology, which is designed to confine and restrict access to classified information. According to a two-year investigation by the Washington Post published in July 2010, an estimated 854,0001 personnel currently have top-secret government clearance.
"One of the key tenets of the processes required to develop and deliver such a secure system is to establish and adhere to a culture of 'security first and foremost.' Virtually all technology companies that advocate security actually compromise security to satisfy the customer's desire for functionality ahead of security. Fortunately, a correctly implemented security-first approach does not mean that functionality or performance have to be sacrificed," said Michael Liacko, executive vice president at INTEGRITY Global Security.
INTEGRITY is the only separation kernel to have ever achieved a certification level of EAL6+ for the protection of classified information from sophisticated attackers as defined by the NIAP Common Criteria Certification process. Existing security technologies have only been certified to protect against casual and inadvertent attempts to breach system security, which is an EAL4 certification level. INTEGRITY security experts have shown how to design a security solution that can provide separation of critical data, as well as establish technology driven policies around access to that data, in such a manner that no one person could be granted unrestricted access to obtain the volume of documents that were released. According to INTEGRITY, their processes and technology would not allow a single person, regardless of rank or position, to have the sole authority to access such large volumes of classified data.
