EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 20, 2009) - The 4th
Annual National Housing Day Breakfast, co-hosted by Homeward Trust Edmonton and
CMHC, will take place on Friday November 20th at 7:30 am at the
Westin Hotel Edmonton. The event celebrates attainable housing and
achievements towards ending homelessness in the capital region.
Keynote
speaker, Mr. Randy
Ferguson-Chief Operating Officer, Procura Real Estate Services Ltd. will speak
on the topic of affordable housing and a sustainable community. Randy is also
the Board Chair, Edmonton Economic Development Corporation.
"This
is our fourth breakfast and we are excited to have so many great partners,
especially CMHC, our co-host." said Susan McGee, Executive Director, Homeward
Trust Edmonton. "Events like this bring together many different groups to focus
on a very important issue." Susan said, "Affordable housing and strong
communities depend on one another- neither can be successful without the
other."
The
programme also includes greetings from, Naresh Bhardwaj MLA Edmonton-Ellerslie,
Councillor Ed Gibbons-Ward 3, Kelly Wagar-CMHC (also Master of Ceremonies) and
Susan McGee- Homeward Trust.
On
November 22, 1999 the Federation of Canadian Municipalities adopted a
resolution to declare a day for Canadians to recognize the need for affordable
housing. Since then, National Housing Day events have been held across the
country to both celebrate successes and draw attention to this important issue.
