YPSILANTI, MI--(Marketwire - April 28, 2009) - The Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan's annual consumer education conference, SpringFest, drew over 400 consumers to the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth. During the conference dinner on April 25, 2009, the HFM Board President, Jennifer Faunce (Warren) presented academic scholarship awards to 2 deserving members of the community. Jennifer began the presentation by saying, "The Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan continues to emphasize the value of education by offering scholarships to individuals with bleeding disorders and their family members. The review committee was pleased to have so many qualified individuals apply for scholarships again this year."
Each year, HFM recognizes people in the Michigan bleeding disorders community for their achievements, both academic and extra-curricular. The recipients of the 2009 HFM Scholarship awards are: Juanita Fish (Detroit), a single mom and pre-nursing student at Wayne County Community College who plans to complete her BSN at Wayne State University and Kayla McCarrell (Parma), a senior in high school who will be attending the University of Michigan in the fall.
