Health Coverage for Musicians: eHealth, Inc. Announces Partnership With TuneCore to Provide Musicians With Access to Affordable Health Insurance
Largest Online Marketplace for Individual, Family and Small Business Health Insurance Products Partners With Industry Leading Distributor of Music, Labels and Artists
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - November 11, 2009) - Today, eHealth, Inc. (
TuneCore and eHealth have collaborated to create a free informational download of the TuneCore Music Industry Survival Manual: Information on Healthcare for Musicians.
This partnership will also allow TuneCore musicians to get free health insurance quotes, compare over 10,000 health insurance products from over 180 carriers nation-wide, and purchase quality health insurance products at TuneCore.com through an online, paperless process. TuneCore musicians will also have the option to call a dedicated call center where they can speak to a health insurance agent licensed in their state.
"The amount of time and hard work musicians put into their music and their careers is significant. If you get sick and wind up out of commission it can be difficult; on tour it can be a disaster," said Jeff Price, CEO and co-founder of TuneCore. "I view it as our job to provide musicians, bands and artists with as much information as possible so that they can make informed decisions. Healthcare in this country can be extremely confusing. eHealth is simply the best company I have ever worked with when it comes to providing education, information and access to healthcare. I was thrilled to have them agree to be there for TuneCore Artists."
"eHealth is committed to helping Americans get the health coverage they need, which is why we've partnered with over 1,000 affiliates like TuneCore that help deliver high-quality products and services, including health insurance, to their unique constituent groups," said Bruce Telkamp eHealth's Executive Vice President of Business and Corporate Development. "TuneCore provides an outstanding, unique service to musicians, and has established itself as a trusted resource in that community. We're honored to be partnering with a trusted and well-respected service provider like TuneCore."
About TuneCore
TuneCore.com has changed the 100-year-old rules and model of the music
business. It is a low, flat fee service that distributes anyone's music or
videos to iTunes, eMusic, AmazonMP3 and many other major download sites
while taking no rights and no revenue from the sale of the music. Artists
are building careers, selling significant volumes of music and generating
revenue while keeping their rights utilizing the new model created by
TuneCore. In its 33 months since launch, TuneCore has distributed tens of
thousands of albums and millions of songs to iTunes and other digital
stores including Grammy winners, record labels and unsigned artists.
Customers include Jay-Z, Keith Richards, Public Enemy, Nine Inch Nails,
Ricky Skaggs, Paul Westerberg, MGM Studios, Warren G, Bjork, Moby, High
School Musical cast members, Ali Lohan, Cirque Du Soleil, Starbucks and
tens of thousands more. TuneCore currently distributes between 150 - 250
release a day (more music is released in one day via TuneCore than any
major record label over a year) and recently expanded its offering to
distribute full-length films, TV shows, live concerts, documentaries etc to
iTunes and more. TuneCore's own Billboard Top 25 seller chart went live in
July 2008.
