As we put these research findings in context, Matthew Littlefield, a Senior
Research Analyst with the Aberdeen Group's Global Manufacturing Practice,
states, "Manufacturers are continually faced with the pressure to reduce
the total cost of manufacturing and the Best-in-Class are successfully
responding to this pressure in several distinct ways. First, the
Best-in-Class are taking a collaborative approach to deploying
Manufacturing Operations Management platforms, leveraging the expertise of
both Corporate IT and Line of Business Manufacturing." Littlefield adds,
"Second, and perhaps most importantly, the platforms deployed by the
Best-in-Class are considerably more likely to span the entire global
manufacturing network, as well as, provide visibility and automated work
flows to manage adverse events across assets, production, quality,
inventory, customers, and suppliers."
